The noxious effects of Obama's proposed tax hikes
Summary:
"Since 1996, Congress after Congress has voted to lighten the tax burden on Americans. The current Congress will decide this fall whether to continue this policy or to significantly raise personal income taxes. President Obama has advanced a plan that reverses the long-standing successful policy: The President and his supporters are calling for tax increases, primarily on upper-income taxpayers and businesses— including small businesses, the primary job creators in the country.
Those who will be most burdened if this plan becomes law are the millions of Americans just starting their economic lives and the millions more trying to find work after the worst recession in 60 years. The rest, whose lives are affected by the investments and business decisions of those taxpayers in the high-income classes, will share the burden. No income earner will be unscathed.
Instead of extracting more income from the private economy, Congress should immediately reduce its spending and enact fundamental entitlement reform that supports strong economic growth. Heritage Foundation economists explain why employment and the economy cannot be made to grow through higher taxes—and how crucial it is for Congress to recognize this fact."

NY Times implies New Yorkers are bigots
Even more insulting and outrageous is the Times' arrogant conclusion:
"New Yorkers, like other Americans, have a way to go. We stand with the poll’s minority: the 27 percent who say the mosque should be built in Lower Manhattan because moving it would compromise American values. Building it would be a gesture to Muslim-Americans who, of course, live here, pray here and died here, along with so many of their fellow Americans, on that awful September morning. But it’s all of us who will benefit."
"Compromise American values"? "A gesture to Muslim-Americans"?
American values are compromised when we forget the essential nature of the threat that caused the 9-11 events: Terrorism fueled by religious fanaticism, which continues in many areas of the world, including here at home.
Any "gesture" should originate FROM Muslim-Americans, who need to say with no uncertainty that they're Americans first and foremost, and will not tolerate those who commit terror against our nation.
The New York Times has reached a new low in scum sucking bottom feeding.

Here's how Climate Alarmists deal with dissent
As PowerLine says "When you're out of arguments, call in the heat".
And yet there are many lunatics who STILL insist that the "science is settled" about the "scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming". Fortunately, the great majority of the non indoctrinated public knows better than to believe this outrageous abuse of science.
The pertinent question concerns whether and when our political class, the ruling elites, and the media will start to understand the realities about the nonsense.

A heretical but rational liberal look at PelosiObamaCare
Excerpt:
"So what does it all add up to? The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment to help provide health coverage for the vast majority of its citizens. I support this commitment, and I think the federal government’s spending priorities should be altered to make it happen. But let’s not pretend that it isn’t a big deal, or that it will be self-financing, or that it will work out exactly as planned. It won’t. Many Democratic insiders know all this, or most of it. What is really unfolding, I suspect, is the scenario that many conservatives feared. The Obama Administration, like the Bush Administration before it (and many other Administrations before that) is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind. At some point in the future, the fiscal consequences of the reform will have to be dealt with in a more meaningful way, but by then the principle of (near) universal coverage will be well established."That sums up the whole Dem/Lefty/"Progressive" attitude on health care "reform": "Get the deal done now. Let someone else deal with the disaster we've created."

Watch for Democrat voter fraud in NJ governor's race
"The state has received a flood of 180,000 absentee ballot requests. On some 3,000 forms the signature doesn't match the one on file with county clerks. Yet citing concerns that voters would be disenfranchised, Democratic Party lawyer Paul Josephson wrote New Jersey's secretary of state asking her 'to instruct County Clerks not to deny applications on the basis of signature comparison alone.'
Mr. Josephson maintained that county clerks 'may be overworked and are likely not trained in handwriting analysis' and insisted that voters with suspect applications should be allowed to cast provisional ballots. Those ballots, of course, would then provide a pool of votes that would be subject to litigation in any recount, with the occupant of New Jersey's highest office determined by Florida 2000-style scrutiny of ballot applications."The standard Democrat script calls for this type of thuggery every time they lose an important election by a small margin. It was successful in putting Franken the Clown into the Senate seat in MN.

"Public Option" reality
"If Medicare were a bank, federal regulators would be closing its doors, selling its operations and sacking its managers. Thanks to soaring costs, the program is fast running out of money -- even though it pays such low fees that many doctors refuse to take Medicare patients. Meanwhile, Medicare fraud costs taxpayers some $60 billion a year, according to a report by CBS's '60 Minutes,' making it among the most profitable fields for felons.
That's our experience with government-run health insurance for the elderly. So what do congressional Democrats propose to do? Offer government-run health insurance to everyone else."
Read the rest of the piece.
Speaking of reading things, I can almost guarantee that regardless of what they spring on us today, they will NOT let us read the whole thing.
The insanity of this is beyond rational comprehension.
UPDATE:
My, oh my! I was wrong.
Here's the disaster, all 1990 pdf pages of it.
This leads me to think some of the alternate theories about this were right. The Dems really don't expect this to be enacted, so the whole thing becomes a bone thrown the Looney Tooner Left's way.
By this evening, we should have all the horrid parts pretty well ready to expose for the bad stuff they represent. The response will be furious and overwhelming.
When the monstrosity ultimately dies it's deserved death, the Dems can then tell their fringe freaks "See? We tried! But those knuckle dragging conservatives and those eeeeeeeeevil insurance companies did us in!"

Candidate Obama on health care legislation transparency
Hat tip: Instapundit.
I guess this guy got kidnapped somewhere along the way, and was replaced with the impostor who's currently playing the role of President of the United States.

Responsible Health Care Reform
The "Medicare For All" theme is back
As discussed here, that's one of the worst options they could possibly brand their version of "health care reform". It's clearly not favored by anyone, except for the respondants in "regressive" inspired push polling, and Usual Suspects near and far, who are a distinct minority.
"Medicare Part E" indeed!
Related:
"The Inevitable Medicare Cuts":
"But, contrary to the president's rhetoric, the bills that Congress is currently debating do cut Medicare.
For example, roughly 10.2 million seniors currently receive their health care through the Medicare Advantage program. That program offers many seniors benefits not included in traditional Medicare, including preventive-care services, coordinated care for chronic conditions, routine physical examinations, additional hospitalization, skilled nursing facility stays, routine eye and hearing examinations, and glasses and hearing aids. The bills currently making their way through Congress would cut payments to Medicare Advantage plans by $100 billion to $150 billion. In response, many insurers are expected to stop participating in the program, while others will probably increase the premiums they charge seniors. Millions of seniors will likely be forced off their current plans and back into traditional Medicare.
The Congressional Budget Office makes it clear that, at the very least, the cuts 'would reduce the extra benefits that would be made available to beneficiaries through Medicare Advantage
plans.' "

Health care "reform" means you'll be paying more for less
Noteworthy:
I'm sure they ARE furious that the smoke and mirrors on this subject has been completely removed."The PWC projections track what The Heritage Foundation and many others have said about the legislation: It does not save money. It simply taxes those who have health coverage and uses the money to give care to others.
The White House is said to be livid. After all, President Obama’s claims that he makes care more affordable are exposed as a myth by the new study. Lawmakers claim the bill would 'save' money, but that’s not true for those who have insurance.
The only 'savings' would be to those who receive government-paid health care and subsidies at the cost of higher prices for everyone else. (Even if the legislation 'reduced the deficit', it would do so by making citizens pay more, not by controlling government spending.)"
In addition, don't let the babble, dribble, drool and spew from the "regressives" who spout the "insurance company hack study" have any credibility with you or others..
From Protein Wisdom:
"It should be noted that the slander from tool Rother is against one of the most premiere accounting firms in the nation. Insurance companies did fund the study; however, businesses always pay the bill for their own auditing which does not invalidate the audit. Firms like PWC live or die by their reputations. So attacking where the study came from rather then addressing any ANY of the findings in the study is particularly stupid. Not unexpected, but stupid all the same.

Obama and the Nobel prize: "The end of American e:xceptionalism"
"......(T)he Nobel citation declares that Mr. Obama's 'diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.'
Now, the world is a big place, much of it run by despots and crooks, each of whom gets the same vote in the U.N. General Assembly as America. The Europeans are applauding that at long last there is an American President willing to let himself and his country mingle as equals with this amorphous global 'majority.'The Norwegians are on to something. In a mere nine months, the President has promulgated a vision for the U.S. role in the world that breaks with both Republican and Democratic predecessors. Madeleine Albright, Bill Clinton's Secretary of State, called America the 'indispensable nation' a decade ago. Ronald Reagan called it a 'city on the Hill,' an example to the world.
Mr. Obama sees the U.S. differently, as weaker than it was and the rest of the planet as stronger, and so he calls for a humbler America, at best a first among equals, working primarily through the U.N. The world's challenges, he emphasized yesterday, 'can't be met by any one leader or any one nation.' What this suggests to us—and to the Norwegians—is the end of what has been called 'American exceptionalism.' This is the view that U.S. values have universal application and should be promoted without apology, and defended with military force when necessary."

Tarnish on the saintly wife's halo
"Elizabeth Edwards had to know at least that there was a good chance Young was not the father--and that her husband was. She certainly had known for a long time that her husband had had an affair with the mother, Rielle Hunter. Perhaps she wasn't proceeding with sure knowledge that she was asking Young to lie for her again, but it's hard to see how she wasn't proceeding with at least what libel lawyers call 'reckless disregard for the truth.' ... Did she ask Young if he was really the father before 'demanding'?. ....Don't expect to read too much of this kind of stuff from the former Edwardsian cheerleaders locally. JR is certainly not going to put ace investigative reporter Lorraine Ahearn on it, and Cone is not going to talk too much about it.
They're going to stay pretty embarrassed about this whole thing for quite a while, until the political climate is right for a John Edwards' "redemption" type of thing.

"Welcome to government of the activist, by the activist and for the activist"
Excerpt:
Why are we allowing Obama and his thug pals to operate like this?"Clearly, the stimulus bill that no congressman read is not working. As it turns out, no congressman may have written it either. It's largely the creation of a coalition of leftist organizations called the Apollo Alliance, whose primary interests are saving the Earth, environmental justice and redistributing wealth. They are not friends of job-creating capitalism.
On Apollo's Web site, Sen. Reid, whose state also leads in foreclosures, is quoted praising the group of which former green czar Van Jones was a board member.
'We've talked about moving forward on these ideas for decades,' Reid is quoted as saying. 'The Apollo Alliance has been an important factor in helping us develop and execute a strategy that makes great progress on these goals and in motivating the public to support them.' "
We need to re-double our efforts to make sure we rid our nation and our people of this most ob noxious political, social, and economic re-making ever seen in America's history.
So Obama "didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money"?
Noteworthy:
The story in a nutshell:
It's all a coincidence, right?Bertha Lewis is the CEO of ACORN.
In a review of Lewis’s contacts list, which was leaked to RedState, Bertha Lewis has the office, cell phone, home number, and private personal email address of Patrick Gaspard.
Patrick Gaspard holds Karl Rove’s position in the White House and was Obama’s Political Director during the campaign.
In addition to Patrick, Bertha has Patrick’s brother Michael in her rolodex. She lists Michael as working at the Advance Group.
The Advance Group is ACORN’s lobbying organization.
In other words, besides having Obama’s political director’s contact info, the political director’s brother works for ACORN via its lobbying shop.

Obama and the NEA conspire to push The Agenda
Noteworthy:
"On August 10th, the National Endowment for the Arts, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and the Corporation for National and Community Service hosted a conference call with a handpicked arts group. This arts group played a key role in Obama’s arts effort during his election campaign, as declared by the organizers of the call, and many on the call played a role in the now famous Obama Hope poster.
Much of the talk on the conference call was a build up to what the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) was specifically asking of this group. In the following segment, Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, clearly identifies this arts group as a pro-Obama collective and warns them of some 'specific asks' that will be delivered later in the meeting."
Listen to the clips, and read the rest of the article......
Of course, the Obamabots won't see this as any big deal.

When is a tax increase NOT a tax increase?
The constitutionality of this is highly suspect, but no one on the "regressive" side seems to care about things like since last year's election.
You will notice that Obama once again fails (on purpose) to acknowledge the dichotomy of mandatory health insurance and mandatory auto liability insurance.
UPDATE: It's officially a tax:
"If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that's a tax," said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. "If you don't pay, the person who's going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS."#

Harvard economist says the impact of Obama's stimulus "will not be significantly different from zero"
Noteworthy:
"Incoming data will reveal more in coming months, but the data available so far tell us that the government transfers and rebates have not stimulated consumption at all, and that the resilience of the private sector following the fall 2008 panic--not the fiscal stimulus program--deserves the lion's share of the credit for the impressive growth improvement from the first to the second quarter. As the economic recovery takes hold, it is important to continue assessing the role played by the stimulus package and other factors. These assessments can be a valuable guide to future policy makers in designing effective policy responses to economic downturns."
Not that any of this will phase our resident local "smart guy" and his fellow economic rocket scientists, who have consistently and arrogantly broadcast their complete ignorance and incompetence in their purported "analysis" of the current financial crisis.
Obama's "Regressive" tribe is restless
You know that Obama and his presidency, the most radical and leftist in history, is in trouble when the Lefty Looney Tooners start abandoning him.
This implosion of Obamacare looks like it could put a stake through the heart of these bloodsuckers before their fangs can do additional damage beyond the disasters they've already created. Hopefully, we will be able to erase the incredible damage already done starting in the 2010 election and culminating with a widespread victory in 2012.
Watch for the other signature pieces of legislation like Cap 'n Trade, draconian financial and communication industry control, illegal alien amnesty and citizenship, and others to be dropped for lack of political ability to ram these obnoxious notions through.
I think they've figured out that the nation and our citizens WILL NOT permit that to happen.
Oh wait, I shouldn't say that...hysterically irrelevant fools like Buie will start accusing me of advocating violence again.
North Carolina's "Healthy Youth Act" will promote "sexual rights and freedoms" for children
Excerpt:
"Students can then flip through the mini-book and learn about their 'sexual rights' which include; the right to choose how much risk one is willing to take sexually, the right to participate in whichever behaviors one is most comfortable with, and the right to express one’s sexuality—and how to do it.Unbelievable!
Funny, I can’t remember reading about sexual rights in the constitution, nor do I remember learning that sexuality is a 'right'.
.....Grossman points out that ninety percent of parents want their children to delay sexual behavior but when they participate in CSE, they will hear an entirely different approach that does not have the child’s best interest in mind. The result: an unstable foundation of lies, false information and manipulation that holds sexuality as a right and not a personal decision."
Holder (sort of) gets his wish granted
The local "smart guy" does his usual smarmy best to turn things to an outcome his "regressive" sycophants will love, but the reality based local blogosphere will be discussing the subject here.
