And just think of the secret delights Dems/Lefties/"Progressives" have in store for us with their renewed Cap 'n Trade, "net neutrality", "fairness doctrine", illegal immigrant amnesty, and VAT "enhancements" if we don't castrate their destructive agenda this November.

Facing the reality of the growing financial disaster

And we haven't even discussed the pending additional disasters of Obamacare and Cap 'n Trade yet.

Meanwhile, Carnegie-Mellon professor Allan Meltzer looks at the politics that brought us to this point.

"So why do many opinion makers insist on inaccurate and frightening analogies that overstate the severity of present conditions? I believe there are several reasons.

First, there is a strong political motivation to make this recession out to be worse than it actually is. The Obama administration wanted to make it appear as though it saved us from an incipient disaster, so it overstated its achievements. The White House also wanted to foist its huge "stimulus" program on the country in order to redistribute income. That pleased many Democrats, but did very little to restore growth.

Many others repeated the administration's hyperbolic claims. One reason is because there is genuine uncertainty about what has happened and what is likely to come. Short-term forecasts have major errors, and extrapolation of current data adds to misinformation. Then there are economists who would like to see government take a larger role in the economy. They've chosen to use the recession as a pretext for arguing for this change.

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and the International Monetary Fund repeatedly proclaimed that more government spending was a necessity. Most economists now believe that the recession is expected to end before much of the government spending takes hold. And while the improvement in recent GDP data reflects a big increase in government spending, consumer spending declined again in the second quarter. The $787 billion of fiscal stimulus has done little for consumers. Keynesian economists always fail to recognize the powerful regenerative forces of the market economy. The financial press—many of whom share their same political assumptions—endlessly reproduces their beliefs.

The Federal Reserve also shared this Keynesian viewpoint. It provided unprecedented monetary stimulus, increasing the monetary base by more than $1 trillion. Much of this increase corrected for its major mistake: allowing Lehman Brothers to fail. After 30 years of bailing out almost all large financial firms, the Fed made the horrendous mistake of changing its policy in the midst of a recession. That set off a scramble for liquidity and heightened the public's distrust."

As I have said before, this financial crisis is mainly one of a lack of confidence, in many ways on many different levels regarding many different aspects of our economic conditions. Yet the signs are their of growth and progress returning, but such signs can easily be erased with the the continued wrong-headed-ness that infests our current Federal government and its apparatus.

The smarmy, self-proclaimed "experts" both nationally and locally continue to misrepresent and/or misunderstand what has happened previously, what is currently happening, and what is quite likely to happen in the future.These economic rocket scientists are doing this out of stupidity, or cupidity in service to an arrogant worldview "progressive" agenda that purposefully subordinates the best interests of our nation and our people to the fulfillment of that agenda.

It's time to put a stop to this dangerous political, social, and economic activity.

The Obamanation's slide continues

"Strong disapproval" has an 11 point spread. At this rate, don't be surprised if the spread is at -20 or greater by Labor day.

The more Obama talks about Obamacare, the worse it gets for him. When he starts on his Cap 'n trade PR parade, it will only get worse, as pundits will continue to poke huge holes in that piece of.....legislation, in much the same way as they've made Obamacare look like a piece of Swiss cheese.

I wonder whether he's started his contemplation on whether it's better for to burn out, or to just fade away into obscurity, where the only historical reference will have to do with the uniqueness of his election, and of the damage he caused in his brief presidency.

On the other hand, perhaps his well documented arrogance has him firmly trapped in La La land, where nothing ever goes wrong, and he remains clueless about the imminence of his failed presidency.

The 'Scientific Consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming' scam takes yet another broadside hit

A new peer reviwed study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research has established that nature, not man, is responsible for "climate change".

Noteworthy, from the study itself:

"Time series for the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) and global tropospheric temperature anomalies (GTTA) are compared for the 1958−2008 period. GTTA are represented by data from satellite microwave sensing units (MSU) for the period 1980–2008 and from radiosondes (RATPAC) for 1958–2008. After the removal from the data set of short periods of temperature perturbation that relate to near-equator volcanic eruption, we use derivatives to document the presence of a 5- to 7-month delayed close relationship between SOI and GTTA. Change in SOI accounts for 72% of the variance in GTTA for the 29-year-long MSU record and 68% of the variance in GTTA for the longer 50-year RATPAC record.

Because El Niño−Southern Oscillation is known to exercise a particularly strong influence in the tropics, we also compared the SOI with tropical temperature anomalies between 20°S and 20°N. The results showed that SOI accounted for 81% of the variance in tropospheric temperature anomalies in the tropics. Overall the results suggest that the Southern Oscillation exercises a consistently dominant influence on mean global temperature, with a maximum effect in the tropics, except for periods when equatorial volcanism causes ad hoc cooling.

That mean global tropospheric temperature has for the last 50 years fallen and risen in close accord with the SOI of 5–7 months earlier shows the potential of natural forcing mechanisms to account for most of the temperature variation."

TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES: YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

You have recently received an Open Letter from the Woods Hole Research Center, exhorting you to act quickly to avoid global disaster. The letter purports to be from independent scientists, but that Center is the former den of the President's science advisor, John Holdren, and is far from independent. This is the same science advisor who has given us predictions of “almost certain” thermonuclear war or eco-catastrophe by the year 2000, and many other forecasts of doom that somehow never seem to arrive on time.

The facts are:

The sky is not falling; the Earth has been cooling for ten years, without help. The present cooling was NOT predicted by the alarmists' computer models, and has come as an embarrassment to them.

The finest meteorologists in the world cannot predict the weather two weeks in advance, let alone the climate for the rest of the century. Can Al Gore? Can John Holdren? We are flooded with claims that the evidence is clear, that the debate is closed, that we must act immediately, etc, but in fact

THERE IS NO SUCH EVIDENCE; IT DOESN'T EXIST.

The proposed legislation would cripple the US economy, putting us at a disadvantage compared to our competitors. For such drastic action, it is only prudent to demand genuine proof that it is needed, not just computer projections, and not false claims about the state of the science.

SCIENCE IS GUIDED BY PROOF, NOT CONSENSUS

Finally, climate alarmism pays well. Alarmists are rolling in wealth from the billions of dollars floating around for the taking, and being taken. It is always instructive to follow the money.

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 32% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –5.

The number who strongly disapprove inched up another point to the highest level measured to date and the overall Approval Index is at the lowest level yet for Obama



"56% Don’t Want To Pay More To Fight Global Warming":

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, taken since the climate change bill was passed on Friday, finds that 21% of Americans are willing to pay $100 more per year for cleaner energy and to counter global warming.

Only 14% are willing to pay more than that amount.

....Sixty-seven percent (67%) of Mainstream Americans say they are not willing to pay higher taxes and utility costs to generate cleaner energy and fight global warming, compared to only 17% of the Political Class."

"Just 27% Favor Second Stimulus Plan This Year, 60% Oppose":

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that just 27% of voters favor a new stimulus plan, unchanged from the earlier findings. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.
