It's unclear if this was a nod to the Ayn Rand book "The Virtue of Selfishness," with all that the invocation of Rand implies.
It would seem to be, given the themes of Rand's work, what happens when independent achievers are demonized.
Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as 'selfish.'

It's not selfish.it's just protection from the economic suicide the messiah wants us to commit.
And when he can't deliver the zombies who voted for him are going to be mad as a wet hornet but never fear he has a way out. He will tell them I warned you but you didn't listen. And he did very clearly and didn't mince words for a change . He warned knowing full well he couldn't deliver but expected enough fools to follow him over the cliff anyhow.

“I am new enough on the national political scene that I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views... I am bound to disappoint some... of them.”
You can bet your boots that there will be a pot full of disappointed Zombies and lets just say that I am hoping, should this empty suit be elected , that it is the usual suspects who will be the most disappointed.
