Ron Paul under the microscope

He doesn't turn out so well, despite what his supporters would like you to believe.

Mona Charen has the details.

Noteworthy:

"He does not explicitly endorse the crazier theories out there, but he hints at dark forces in the U.S. government threatening our liberties, he inveighs against the “neo-cons” (shorthand for Jews in some circles) and he gives aid and comfort to the paranoid by appearing on their favorite radio shows.

No, Ron Paul is not my candidate. Not for president. He might make a dandy new leader for the Branch Davidians."

He's the Republican version of Dennis Kucinich.

  1. Funny that the two greatest defenders of the Constitution among the presidential candidates are viewed by you as fringe.

    No, Roch.

What's funny is how you (as do many others) always fail to get the point whenever it doesn't particularly suit your worldviews.

What's also funny is you (and others) obsessively maintain an absolutely absurd view of certain things being qualified as "constitutional rights", which interestingly enough happen to concurrently be things that advance your political/social/economic agendas.

I submit for consideration that YOUR opinion on most of these things constitutes the definitive example of the real "fringe" element.

  3. When I see Ron Paul on TV or at a debate he always seems about one second away from exploding--lip quivering, hands clenched on the podium, head thrust forward...on the verge of a screaming, spittle-laden tirade.
I doubt he has the temperament to handle the pressure of leading the free world.
I likewise have my doubts about John McCain's ability to react gracefully to stressful events.

  4. And Kucinich takes his order from flying saucers.
Is that really someone you want deciding the future of our country, Roch? Surely you're just being sarcastic...

  5. Bubba,

How does my beleif that Ron Paul is a defender of the Constitution advance my "agenda?"

Jaycee, who says I wan't Kucinich as president?

Jaycee, did kucinich say he had contact with flying saucers or that he saw an unidentified flying object?

  6. Roch, what Kucinich DIDN'T say is the important thing. I think everyone was afraid to ask if he'd contacted them because they didn't want to know!
Dennis the Menace Kucinich is a nutcase. Anybody that hangs out with Shirley MacLaine and sees UFO's is comin' outta left field.

    You missed the point.

The reference was to your support of imagined constitutional rights.

It's not any big surprise that you would not think of Paul and Kucinich as the fringe-ers they truly are.
