Dear anonymous, Namecalling? Please show me where I called anybody a "name" in this thread. As for acting 12 years old, only children use profanity to compensate for their illiteracy and lack of social skills.
I'm not the one using the "Childish language" you are talking about and if anyone here is being childish, it is indeed you. You act like a kid on a playground who can't get his way and resorts to calling other kids immature names and takes his ball and goes home.
"smallpotatoes"? At least have the common decency to address him by the name he uses. He does not attempt to denegrate you by calling you something other than Jaycee.
And I stand correct about the Bush/Cheney comments.
So when did "smallpotatoes" make it into the obscene or offensive name category?? Geez, you guys are worse than 3rd graders on the playground. roger, if you can't contribute, just butt out. Nobody will miss you.
Hate crimes depend on the intent of the perpetrator, not on anyone's religion, race, sexual orientation, or anything else. If you attack someone because of a real or imagined bias and it can be shown you had that intent (through your actions, words, etc.) then it's a hate crime. It's the perpetrator, not the victim, that's the deciding factor in this law. For example, if someone attacks a person because and believing that person to be a homosexual, it's a hate crime regardless of whether the victim is, in fact, a homosexual.
"But the perpetrator's orientation, nationality, etc is irrelevant to determining whether something is a hate crime, contrary to what Joe is suggesting."
I agree to some extent. However, I think a racial minority assaulting another person of the same racial minority while screaming racial slurs would probably not qualify. However, change the race of one participant and you might have a violation.
More from Captain Ed.
ReplyDeleteJust another shining example that Muslims want to kill all Jews.
ReplyDeletesmallpotatoes, them's your words, not mine.
ReplyDeleteJaycee,
ReplyDeleteWHAT THE FUCK is up with you and name calling? Are you FUCKING twelve years old? Why don't you grow a pair and act like an adult for one damn day.

ReplyDeleteYou mean like Bush using the term "Shit" recently or Cheney telling Leahy to go "fuck himself"? Yeah you are right they *are* children.
No, roger, I mean your childish language on a forum for adults.
ReplyDeleteYou contribute nothing with your juvenile attitude.

I think the charge is appropriate.
ReplyDeleteIf society decides that "hate crimes" are worth codifying, then society must be consistent in the application of those laws.
