Methinks Old Bill Doth Protest Too Much

....and most other observers agree.

Accurate observation:

"However, the idea Clinton promotes -- that 'the right' didn't want him to get bin Laden -- is simply not borne out by the facts as I remember them, and I don't think it's helpful to the country or to the war on terrorism."

  1. Hey Fred! I think this is the link you wanted.

    Excerpt:

"But the bottom line is that Bill Clinton, the commander-in-chief, could not find the will to order the military into action against al Qaeda, and Bill Clinton, the head of the executive branch, could not find the will to order the CIA and FBI to act. No matter what the former president says on Fox, or anywhere else, that is his legacy in the war on terror."

He can run, but he can't hide from this.

  2. I saw 'ol Slick Willy talking about his "legacy" accomplishment in "almost" succeeding against bin Laden.
Sort of like striking out at the plate and going back to the dugout saying, "Man, I ALMOST hit a home run."

  3. Bill Clinton's legacy is that he has no legacy.

I've heard stated he gets credit for reforming welfare. Also, he balanced the budget. However, these people fail to recall that the Repubs controlling both houses forced his hand on Welfare and that, again, the Repubs restrained spending to balance the budget.

However, I'll give the guy credit for one legacy, and that was the enhancement of ecumenical relations between the Southern Baptists and the Jewish faith as a result of the Lewinsky matter.
