Democrats Who Understand the Urgency of Our National Security Challenges Are Rare

Obviously we have people like Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, but we also have Ed Koch, who is unafraid to risk the ire of the Nutroots and the dizzy Deaniacs.

"Now is the time for everyone to acknowledge the enormity of the danger we face and for reasonable people in both parties to join together to formulate a unified approach to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and indeed, to our foreign policy in the entire Middle East."

I'm afraid the not-so loyal opposition won't allow that to happen, Mr. Mayor. It runs counter to point number 1 on their election agenda:

"Say or do ANYTHING to regain political, social, and economic power, regardless of the damage it causes to the nation and its people."
