Mike Barber thinks Robbie Perkins pulled another of his "business as usual" moves

Perkins greased the skids for a property buyer to receive preferential treatment in dealing with the city.

Barber:

"It appears a council member factored incentives into a land deal, went directly to staff which creates the appearance of inappropriate influence, lobbied other council members and made no disclosure until we get the presentation and set a public hearing."

Perkin's response, with the subterfuge eliminated:

"Who, me?"

Why are we not surprised at any of this?

When are we going to develop the political will to put a stop to the "business as usual" crowd?

  1. Bubba, I wonder if you and I would have that kind of access if we wanted to do some business-- to command the ears and attention of the assistant City Manager for economic development, and to instantaneously have incentives investigated, even though it is not necessarily a job creation project.

  2. I was starting to miss the flamboyant and outlandish chutzpah of former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards. Robbie Perkins' return to the council is reminescent of that pols shenanigans.

You and I are not part of the "business as usual/good old boy" network.

I find it amazing that Perkins sees absolutely nothing wrong with his actions....again.

  4. The problem lies in and Perkins is banking on the fact that so many voters are so disgruntled that they no longer care nor believe that change will ever come.

    Sad, so sad.

What was the turnout for the election last November? 20%?

He may well be right......at this point.

  6. there needs to be a movement to dump the developers from the local council's and boards. I don't know if anyone is aware that 10 of 14 members of the land development ordinance committee are members of the TREBIC Cartel, here they are

Gary Rogers with Starmount Company,Trip Brown with Brown Investment,Keith Price with Samet Companies,James Cox with Mid-City Urban,Jessica Marlies with Brooks Pierce Law Firm,Mike Fox with Tuggles Duggins Law Firm,Dick Franks with Koury Corp.,Gary Hill with McAlphine Company,Gary Wolf with SparrowWolf Law Firm, and Mary Skenes with Yost and Little. So 10 out of 14 are TREBIC members or close allies with TREBIC for the Land Development Ordinance Citizen Advisory Team
