Seeing past the smoke and mirrors illusion of "Mandatory Health Insurance"

Don't believe the demagoguery that the Dems/Lefties/"Progressives", including all the major candidates for the Democrat presidential nomination, would like you to believe.

Noteworthy:

"According to the Census Bureau, of the 47 million uninsured, nearly 10 million have household incomes of at least $75,000. They probably can afford coverage but have chosen not to buy it. Another 14 million of the uninsured are already eligible for government programs such as Medicaid (for low income adults) and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (for children) and simply need to sign up.

That leaves about 23.7 million people -- some citizens, others newcomers -- who cannot afford coverage. It's up to the nation to decide what to do about that. One thing is clear: Mandating that everyone, including young adults, buy insurance, and then hiding a hefty, cost sharing tax inside their premium, is an unfair solution."

  1. Greed just may get this disaster passed Bubba. After all greed from the drug companies and the elderly got the ridiculuos drug bill passed. Of course all that was accomplished was a go ahead for the drug companies to raise prices again so that all are now paying even more for their drugs while offering another layer of bureaucrats and a new business opportunity for insurance companies.

Just as there was no need for Medicare for ALL elderly in 1965 but a perfectly good and proven health care plan for the poor elderly in Medicaid, there was also a good and proven drug program for those in need. The military's NEGOTIATED drug program. But of course either of these models would not have enhanced the profits of the power brokers. BB

  3. "You don't consider Obama a major Democratic presidential candidate?"

    From the Obama web site:

"Employer Contribution: Employers that do not offer or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan."

    Mandatory Coverage of Children:

Obama will require that all children have health care coverage."

No, there's nothing mandatory about that position, is there Roch?

As far as the demagoguery goes on this issue, Obama is certainly no saint, as we see in this speech.

"Amy and Lane are now paying forty percent of their annual income in health care premiums. They have no retirement plan and nothing saved. They can no longer afford to buy new clothes or fill up their cars with gas, they have racked up more credit card debt then they know what to do with, and Amy wrote to us and said that the day she heard the loan officer say the word 'bankruptcy' was one of the worst in her life."

  4. Okay, I just wanted to make sure your readers and you understand that Obama's healthcare solutions do not mandate universal coverage. Thanks for clearing that up.

  5. Yes, Roch, you're correct.
Hussein Obama is just working towards a more communistic/socialistic society, that's all. Nothing to worry about.
