....that our Dem/Lefty/"Progressive" pals insist never existed..
Noteworthy:
"He was definitely not in Iraq to fight against Saddam Hussein. This new revelation puts the Saddam regime and al Qaeda on the same side against Coalition forces in the initial invasion. "
Has all ability to reason left you in your desperation? The article you cite does not make the case of a Saddam/Al Queda link at all. Furthermore, anybody not blinded by the pathetic hope of yet finding justification for the stupidity of a moron president notice that the article claims Zarqawi was in Iraq to fight Americans -- before Americans where there. Jeez. How embarassing for you.
ReplyDeleteRoch, how do you really feel? :)
ReplyDeleteIgnore it as much as you like, AQ and the Iraqi gov't had a long-standing relationship as part of the ongoing efforts of Iraq to dominate, subjugate, and control the entire Middle East.
And I might remind you that the "moron" president had a higher grade point average in college than John Kerry.
Why So Certain
ReplyDeleteRoch..You need to work on your civility. Bubba is not the one embarassing himself !!
Did you notice how Roch ignored this part in his haste to splooge out his tired old rhetoric?
ReplyDelete"But new reporting from an important Pakistani journalistic source close to al Qaeda leadership confirms that Abu Mus’ab al Zarqawi was an al Qaeda operative sent by Usama bin Laden to Iraq to fight US forces."
That's a link between al Qaeda and Saddam, regardless of what Roch thinks.
It never seems to bother Roch when he sticks his foot in his mouth.
Apparently, he thinks that repeating the same old nonsense about this subject passes for some sort of definitive statement of fact.
This quote from Fred's Weekly Standard link describes Roch and those who blindly think like him to a tee:
ReplyDelete"But if one is looking for an exemplary cherry-picker, then there is none better than Benjamin himself.
Benjamin has gone out of his way to advance the most logically tortuous reasons for dismissing evidence of a relationship between Saddam and al Qaeda.
In so doing, he has demonstrated the absurd lengths to which some will carry their wrongheaded assumptions."
"But new reporting from an important Pakistani journalistic source close to al Qaeda leadership confirms that Abu Mus’ab al Zarqawi was an al Qaeda operative sent by Usama bin Laden to Iraq to fight US forces."
ReplyDeleteRight, sent to fight US forces in a country where there were no US forces. Try to keep up.
And Fred, if there's one thing you should know about me by know, it's that I have no patience for people who form their opinions based on ideology and will not allow informed logic to tell them otherwise. I think you've seen that accross a number of issues -- this is one.
Roch, if you really have an interest in this subject I can recommend a book that explains a lot of the background of the insurgent campaign in Iraq. It's dry reading, but pretty detailed. It's titled "The Terrorists of Iraq: Inside the Strategy and Tactics of the Iraq Insurgency" by Malcolm Nance.
ReplyDeletePrior to the liberation by coalition forces Saddam planned out a years-long terrorist campaign to be initiated after the defeat he knew was coming. Invitations went out to any Arab that wanted to fight the US. Zarqawi and his compatriots came in and set up operations before Saddam fell. This was done with the knowledge and assistance of the five Iraqi intelligence bureaus.
Excellent reference jaycee.
ReplyDeleteOne could just as reasonably conclude that AQs pre-war presence in Iraq was for the purpose of planning, with the aid and comfort of Saddam, another spectacular attack on our homeland or facilities abroad.
Last year Michael Barone justifiably asked why the left was in
Denial
Back in '04 Stephen Hayes spelled it out for all but the willing deaf that the conventional wisdom had been right all along
The Connection
More recently we learned who had been
Training Terrorists
And Roch, scoff if you must but at least look at the evidence of
A Conspiracy Of Titanic Proportions
"Right, sent to fight US forces in a country where there were no US forces. Try to keep up."
ReplyDeleteSweet Mother of God......
You are THICK.
Do you not even possess basic reading and comprehension skills?
You must be a product of the NEA Government Schools/Libthink Indoctrination Centers.
Or did you not even read the material, so that you could retain some sort of plausible denial about the subject matter?
Here's the earlier piece referenced and linked by Robison, which Roch mis-read, or never read.
ReplyDeleteExcerpt:
"Our research points to these Palestinian-Jordanian "returnees" as one of many portals of influence between Saddam and the global Islamic jihad movement. Other portals of influence to the movement include Gulbuddin Hekmatyar (Islamic Party) and Mulla Omar (Taliban) in Afghanistan, Maulana Fazlur Rahman and his jihad political parties in Pakistan, Hassan al Turabi and his National Islamic Front followers in Sudan, and Ayman al Zawahiri himself with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, and later when it became al Qaeda along with Bin Laden's followers.
To not see the portals means averting the eyes. Too many people who should know better have done so."
Should Roch know better?
Or are his comments here and elsewhere on this subject strictly to support a political agenda, and are just clearly indefensible?
