About the latest round of nonsense

....that the Dems are spewing about George Allen, as detailed by Captain Ed.

Excerpt:

"All the ex post facto rationalizations in the world cannot justify the ridiculous inquisition that Allen has experienced over the last week about not his faith, but that of his mother. It should shame everyone associated with this attack on Allen's family, which has no precedent in the last thirty years in which I've followed politics."

Of course, there are SOME people who won't see it this way. They'll be quick to mumble some incomprehesible rationale about "first amendment rights" for those who have slimeballed Allen and his family over this issue.

I think Jim Webb needs to step up and publically disavow this garbage.

  1. I am so tired of the fluff, especially concerning Republicans.

  2. I think, and I have not had the time to read it all, that the problem isn't about his Jewish heritage, but his denial of it initially. The point of this, if I remember, is that his mother's roots were north african, and the derogatory term he used could have come from that sort of common language.

I don't think Jim Webb has anything to do at all with Allen putting his foot in his own mouth.

  3. (sigh)

    You missed the point, Sue.

    1. The sleazeball reporter's referencing the "macacaw" fluff at the very beginning showed that a partisan "gotcha" attempt was on the way.

Hence, the tone of Allen's reply.

In addition, listen to the clip, and you will hear the audience plainly thought the reporter was WAY out of line.

    2. The babble, dribble, drool, the Lefty Nutrooters have spewed over this is just more support of a hack job, the very thing they were quick to jump on Allen over just weeks ago.

    3. Allen only recently learned, directly from his mother, of her heritage. His previous denial stemmed from lack of accurate information, hardly a fault on his part.

    4. What legitimate need is there for someone to ask about Allen's mother's religious background?

5.What legitimate purpose did the slimeball reporter have in linking the "macacaw" topic to it, except to raise the old issue all over again?

Webb needs to speak out against this kind of crap. By failing to do so among those who would support him, he implicitly endorses it.

  4. Bubba, I took a chance commenting here and I guess it's no better now than it was last time. Your sweeping generalizations leave little room for serious discussion. I'm disappointed and thought there was room for conversation, but I guess not.

Does it not surprise you just a little that a man who spoke often of his grandfather's incarceration in a concentration camp "just recently" learned of his religious heritage?

You might have a comment on this comment by Lex. What person doesn't take a good tiding politely?

I think Allen makes a lot of his own problems and it's too easy for you to blame it on a strawman group of hypothetical folks that you like to label with deragatory nouns. I thought Repubs were the party of personal responsibility, but I guess not.

  5. Seems like we're always missing the point. No matter what we say... unless its someone who agrees with you that is. Ah, I see now! If we disagree, we are ignorant fools who cannot carry on a conversation. If we agree, then we are fellow compatriots who are to be coddled and stroked. Got it.

Oh please, spare us the sanctimony, Sue.

Mrs. Allen validated her son's recent discovery of her heritage earlier today, or late yesterday. Yet you seem to not want to consider that at all.

The whole thing is clearly over the top politically motivated garbage.

It's that simple, and it's that obvious.

It would be generous of me to describe your response as a "stretch".

And drop the arrogant attitude you seem to take whenever someone responds critically to you. While it may be fine on blogs whose blogmasters share your world view, it's not tolerated here.

Engage in honest debate about the points, and respond with substantiation to support why you think you are right, and the other opinions are wrong. Leave the holier-than-thou judgments out of it, and establish some intellectual credibility.

    Or not. It's your choice.

You will get back from me the level of respect your contribution deserves.

  8. Here's more about the crap being flung on Senator Allen, including more lefty slurs.

    Key point:

"All the ex post facto rationalizations in the world cannot justify the ridiculous inquisition that Allen has experienced over the last week about not his faith, but that of his mother. It should shame everyone associated with this attack on Allen's family, which has no precedent in the last thirty years in which I've followed politics."

And people like Sue and Jim Webb continue to enable the slime, and it's all for the sake of making a cheap political smear.

    Hypocrites!
