.....that was so prevelant last Fall and Winter, with the various predictions of the End of the World As We Know It?

It's been off the scope for some time now, except for the Whacko/NutCase/Conspiracy Theorists who are still attempting to get some traction on the issue.

Is the Avian Flu something to be concerned about?

Yes, of course.

Is it likely to be the Pandemic That Ends Civilization and Leaves The Earth to the Cockroaches?

Probably not, given that there is no proof or liklihood that it has or will mutate into a human-to-human transmission scenario.
