Lefty Paranoia on Wal Mart Gets Worse

WMDS (Wal Mart Derangement Syndrome) at work.

Joanah Goldberg has the details.

Conclusion:

"It's horrific politics, silly public policy — but a joy to watch."

And how did the Loonies on the Left respond? (hat tip: Instapundit)

Paranoia Strikes Deep Excerpt:

"They've forced Coke to change their secret recipe, Kraft to lay off thousands of employees, and Vlasic to declare bankruptcy. And because Wal-Mart so obsessively pursues the lowest possible prices, they're not only depriving their own workers of generous benefits and compensation, they're making it literally impossible for their producers to do so, as Wal-Mart won't abide by the minor cost differences that on-shore production and respectable benefits demand."

And I bet they're also supressing the cure for the cancer, the miracle 200 mile per gallon car that runs on water, and the fact that we really didn't land on the moon in 1969.

  2. Rich Lowery has more on the anti Wal Mart babble.

    To sum up:

"Something deeper is at work, as well. In Democratic politicians’ contempt for Wal-Mart, there is an element of snobbery. They have a distaste for such a down-market, lumpen-bourgeois operation where few of their voters shop (one poll found that 76 percent of weekly Wal-Mart shoppers are Bush voters), let alone anyone they socialize with.

The Democrats’ anti-Wal-Mart campaign ultimately represents a politically unappealing snooty-populism. Their rhetoric is with the common man, but their noses are in the air."

  3. "one poll found that 76 percent of weekly Wal-Mart shoppers are Bush voters" I am very much surprized at this. I would think that with the low prices it would be the blue collar who are more likely to be Democrats who would shop at Wal-mart. Odd. I personally am a big Wal-Mart fan for most things but my clothing and furniture and meat.
As for the employees, I know a few personally and they are satisfied with their wages and benefits. And considering that they also get a 20% discount on anything they purchase including food I presume so that can be considered wages of a sort too but not taxable. BB
