Byron York wants to know.
Noteworthy excerpts:
"But don’t worry. It won’t happen. Because, as we all know, there is not a snowball’s chance that Democrats will call for a special investigation of this leak. There is not a snowball’s chance that The New York Times will call for a special investigation of this leak. There is not a snowball’s chance that opponents of the Bush administration will denounce the leakers as traitors. And so on.
But there is no doubt the leak did real damage."
"So there you have it. A valuable program was compromised and real damage was done to the war on terrorism. And what have we heard from the people who so loudly demanded an independent investigation of the exposure of CIA employee Valerie Plame Wilson’s identity? Not much."
Just remember the Agenda's basic formula, straight from the Usual Suspects' Talking Points:
Security leaks that can be manipulated into portraying the Bush Admininistration in a bad light: GOOD!
Manufactured "security leak" about a non-covert CIA desk jockey's already publicly established identity: BAD!
Not that we're surprised at ANY of this, are we?
Joe Wilson is a documented and notorious liar and the the prosecution of Scooter Libby relating to the so called leak of the so called covert agent, Wilson's wife, Valarie Plame, is a waste of the taxpayers money and a shameful disgrace.
ReplyDeleteFitzgeral should dismiss this BS case and quit stinking up the courtroom. Then quietly fold his tent and go back to Chicago.
It's just another ginned up scandal du jour to be used politically against the Bush Administration. It wasn't the first, and it won't be the last.
ReplyDeleteThe Lefties have been averaging about one of these a week during the entire time this administration has been in power.
NONE of them has gotten any real traction individually, but the volume and the amount of the constant BashBush Drumbeat, being aided and abetted by the Antique Media, has been successful as a propaganda tool.
It's the Big Lie theory in action. Remember, if the "Loyal Oppostion Patriots" (hereinafter known as "The Loopies") tells a big enough lie in a loud voice time and time again, SOME people are bound to be fooled.
Wow! There is a notable lack of reality in this blog. Scandal du Jour is a dish served in the 90's. Ginning up was what Whitewater, travelgate, cocaine-trafficing, Vince Foster, and various other nefarious accusations made against Clinton.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that the Dems could ask for whatever they want, but the votes are just not there for us. It could be an interesting January, though.
The traction in this story is just like the one for Abramoff. There is real meat there. People have gone to jail over Abramoff and Bob Ney will be gone by the end of the summer.
W was the one who said that none of his people leaked Valerie Plame's name. He may have even called that leak a disgrace. But it is clear that Rove and Libby were definitely involved. But now, it's apparently no big deal.
Sure, once you get caught you gotta find a different strategy. I think that 'pubs really hurt their credibility when they defend lies and deceptions.
I think that the leak should be investigated, but the Times is not the boogeyman on this. Terrorists don't use the international banking system anymore. They launder their money through complex republican PACs, since they never get investigated...
Penguin, you seem to be long on supposition and short on substance.
ReplyDelete"W was the one who said that none of his people leaked Valerie Plame's name."
And that is true. If you have evidence otherwise, get on the next plane to DC because nobody else in the world has what you have!
You statement "they defend lies and deceptions." is likewise flawed. While the libs, media, etc., like to disagree and say untrue things about what the administration says, they're hard pressed to prove any "lies." Just because you disagree or dislike something does not make it a lie, no matter how fervently you wish it was!
The opinions of regular, run-of-the-mill citizens are shaped by reporting from the major news media. If you hear a lie over and over and over again, you might start to believe it. When the President makes a statement and then the media parades out 10 people who hate Bush to call it a lie, then sometimes people believe the haters, not the truth. Sad, but that's the way it is.
One good example is the war. It's supported almost 100% by the soldiers who are there and understand what it's all about. The soldiers are perplexed that the news media only reports a tiny, virtually insignificant portion of what's happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. Reenlistment rates are overwhelmingly huge in comparison with those of peacetime. The people that know and understand our mission support it; those that hated Bush to begin with are using the war to try and destroy Bush, and the media is a willing accomplice.

ReplyDeleteNot even close in the number and intensity.
"They launder their money through complex republican PACs, since they never get investigated..."
No comment on THAT one is needed.
"Notable lack of reality" indeed......the pot and kettle analogy in action.
