Stopping politicians from spending is the biggest problem tax payers face on all levels of government. What can be done with these people. They promise to control spending, get elected and go hog (literally!) wild. BB
It's even tougher to stop when the republican controlled congress is passing every spending bill from the republican administration. I know that bubba wants to call this 'everyone's' problem, but it's kinda hard to buy that when the majority votes for all spending bills.
It's hard for diehard repubs to criticize their own congress, but it's about time you saw the trees as well as the forest.
Dems spend on social programs to buy votes, Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" is a perfect example of this. Republicans generally spend on defense of all of us, and other worthwhile things. Big difference.
This is truly a passing fad. I cannot tell you how many people I have spoken to who are dumping profitable holdings (real estate, stocks, etc.) so that they can reap the benefits of lowered Capital Gains taxes. These people fear that the gravy train is coming to an end and they want get out while the gettin's good. In a year, we'll be back in the doldrums of falling revenues. And if we don't get some of our other spending under control, it doesn't matter. If I told my wife that the good news is that the budget deficit in our house dropped from $1000 to $800, I'd still be up the creek.
