Here's a great new campaign theme for John Edwards
Excerpt:
"But the NFL, as rich as it is, can't afford to have 1,000 players suddenly on disability, sometimes for forty and fifty years. The league, as a business, can't operate if it admits that so many employees who do only what their job requires – tackling, blocking, being tackled, being blocked – wind up disabled."
Where's Edwards when we really need him?
Plain Talk about "Global Warming"
(Speakers on.....)
Here's a description of the methodology that the "scientific consensus" on "global warming" crowd uses:
A frog is sitting on the table.
The global warming scientist says "jump".
The frog jumps.
The global warming scientist cuts off the front legs of the frog and says "jump".
The frog jumps.
The global warming scientist then cuts off the hind legs and says "jump".
The frog just lays there.
Global warming scientist conclusion:
After removing all four legs, the frog goes deaf.
Here's what we will get if the Democratics manage to regulate CEOs' "obscene" compensation
Excerpts:
"Ironically, the targets of the law are probably those least likely to be affected by it. Top executives have the standing to negotiate gross-ups to cover their tax liability or to seek other forms of compensation, such as stock options or restricted stock grants, not covered by the cap."
"Likewise this time, a much larger pool of people than CEOs could be hit by the new deferred comp cap. People who make a lot less than $1 million have occasion to defer some of their salary, and at many companies even middle managers can do so. If this bill becomes law, those non-millionaires potentially face a 55% tax rate on the income they might otherwise have tried to defer. The tax code is riddled with provisions, such as the Alternative Minimum Tax, the estate tax and any number of phaseouts and caps, that were sold politically as targeting only the "super-rich" but now capture taxpayers of far more modest means."
"Jim Webb and his "new populist" mates can flog CEOs all they want in their speeches. But the people who will end up paying will be shareholders and the ordinary Americans who don't have the luxury of avoiding yet another millionaire's trap when it gets sprung on them."
A textbook example of the Law of Unintended Consequences at work, courtesy of our new and wonderful Democrat Congress.

Everything you need to know about Edwards' new house
Noteworthy points:
"8) This whole FAQ seems like a cheap shot. Big deal. We’re supposed to believe you’re suddenly against conspicuous consumption?
I’m not. Quite to the contrary, I conspicuously consume as much as my meager means allow me to. Furthermore, conspicuous consumption is good for the economy. The design and construction of the Edwards house is no doubt employing dozens of artisans, craftsmen and day laborers.
But I’ve always felt that Edwards is a phony. I don’t call him an empty suit – that’s too generous. I refer to him as a suit filled with anti-matter. It’s a bit hard to believe that someone who is actually obsessed with the plight of America’s downtrodden would devote so much energy and so many resources to building a home fit for a modern Medici. I just don’t buy it.
9) But can’t you live a life of opulent splendor and still care deeply about those less well off?
Yes and no. The construction of this house is deeply revealing. Edwards isn’t a dodo. He had to know that building such a house while running a Huey Long-style campaign would be a jarring contradiction. And yet he went ahead and did it anyway.
The heart of the Edwards message is the class warfare sentiment that the working class should envy the rich. Income disparity is the Homeric theme he hopes to ride to the White House. And then he builds a house that will serve as a living, breathing example of how the 'other half" enjoys lives of a completely different sort than working people. It doesn’t add up."
Buureaucratics/Libthinkers/Democratics stymied by President Bush yet again
Predictably, The Times leads the hissie fit parade, as befits the main purveyor of BDS in the nation.
Excerpts (Captain Ed, referring to the Times' nonsense):
"Hogwash. The order ends the tradition of unchecked authority by federal agencies to set up their own rules and apply them capriciously, outside of the control of either Congress or the executive branch. It makes agencies justify any new rules and brings that process into a little more sunlight and holds the bureaucracy accountable."
"Until the Democrats and their constituent special interests either offer an alternative for controlling the expansion of power by federal agencies or justify the lack of oversight that allows it, then they have nothing at all to offer -- which is the reason why critics like the New York Times have settled for good, old-fashioned paranoia and scare tactics."

More on the Weather Channel's "global warming" agenda nonsense
Excerpts:
"Media Village reported that the move by The Weather Channel 'is intended to establish a broader perspective on the weather category and,' says Lucas, 'to move the brand from functional to emotional.'
Emotional weather forecasting?"
"The global warming crowd, led by arrogant hustlers such as Heidi Cullen at The Weather Channel, has set up a no-lose situation for themselves.
Climatology is by definition the study of long-term climate trends, and it will indeed be many decades or longer before any definitive conclusions about even the existence of global warming – let alone its causes – can be determined to be true or false. This means that Cullen and her cohorts can't be held accountable for their erroneous beliefs."
Will Obama be the man with no middle name when mentioned by the media?
Noteworthy:
On the contrary, Mr. Obama's multicultural background (his father was Kenyan, and he spent several years living in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather) ought to be viewed as a plus.
Ah, the wonders of Libthink: Multiculturism is a plus, except when it's not convenient politically.
Are we really surprised to find that out?

Hmmm....the "Patriotic Terrorist"?
Noteworthy:
"Are you a patriotic terrorist?
If you are intensely critical of the US, while tolerating homicidal enemies who condemn everything you previously claimed you are for - human rights, voting rights, gay rights, women's rights, porn - then you're a patriotic terrorist.
If you talk about tolerance constantly - and hilariously tolerate genocide and suicide bombers because those actions undermine your more intimate opposition, the American right - then you're a patriotic terrorist."

A fellow Annapolis grad addresses Senator Webb
Excerpt:
"He is long on general accusations but they cannot survive serious critical thinking and examination – at least not to support the charge that the president was incompetent or reckless. Reasonable people can disagree about American Grand Strategy in the post 9/11 world, but the senator did not offer reasonable disagreements. Thus, he resorted to the recent Democratic ploy of finding one or two generals to counter what the president has done, and adopting them as oracles."
"Finally, Senator Webb says in one paragraph that he does not want a precipitous withdrawal but wants our troops gone in short order. Are these weasel words Senator? You are a writer. The written word is your craft. Please explain for the public the difference between precipitous withdrawal and short order. Additionally, he argues that “the majority of our military” are against the way the war is being executed. What has the senator been reading? Whence comes this information? Please share your data with the country."
The revelation that Ollie North beat Webb in the brigade boxing championships way back when was interesting. Had I known that, I would have asked Ollie about that when I got the chance to spend a short bit of time with him at the Reagan Day dinner at the convention center last year.
I can just imagine what Colonel North's response would have been.
John Edwards fights poverty in his own special way
Excerpt:
"Knight approved the building plans that showed the Edwards home totaling 28,200 square feet of connected space. The main house is 10,400 square feet and has two garages. The recreation building, a red, barn-like building containing 15,600 square feet, is connected to the house by a closed-in and roofed structure of varying widths and elevations that totals 2,200 square feet."
Life is sure tough when you have to live off the pittance of an income a former trial lawyer like Edwards has.
This article and picture offer a powerful argument for raising the minimum wage for trial lawyers.
I think Edwards should have been able to afford better.
The Media and John McCain
The media hasn't.
One thing that Lowry doesn't mention, but I will: Our Democratic/Libthinker pals are ecstatic over this.
They used and manipulated McCain to great advantage when it suited their purpose, but they now can safely turn against him and vector the negativity that they've spared him for the last eight years until the time was right.

Countering the notion the Giuliani is not a conservative
Excerpts:
"But New Yorkers who had watched their city deteriorate were more frightened of life under an outdated and ineffective liberal agenda. Giuliani rode to victory in 1993 with heavy support from the same white ethnic Democratic voters who, nearly a decade earlier, had crossed party lines even in liberal New York to vote for Ronald Reagan."
"These are impressive conservative credentials. And if social and religious conservatives fret about Giuliani’s more liberal social views, nevertheless, in the general election such views might make this experience-tested conservative even more electable."
This is an excellent article. Read it through.

Regarding the current conventional wisdom about "greed"
As usual, Thomas Sowell blows this fallacy out of the water.
Key point:
"Given the high degree of specialization in a modern economy, demand'ng that everything 'justify itself before the bar of reason" means demanding that people who know what they are doing must be subject to the veto of people who don't have a clue about the decisions that they are second-guessing."
That's typically what the perpetually clueless in economics usually do.
Zarqawi's legacy?
We MAY have thwarted this one, but who knows what lies in wait within our borders already?
One thing's for certain: if the Libthinkers/BDS sufferers/Peace at Any Price crowd get their way, and force us to suffer defeat in Iraq and in the greater struggle against terrorism, expect MANY more of these things to occur, and for some of them to achieve some level of success.
Was/Is Carter in the Tank?
Excerpts:
"All this might be less disturbing had Carter confined his post-presidential efforts to such good works as vanquishing the guinea worm. But for years he has run his own mini-presidency — complete with a series of attempts to outflank or shape the policies of sitting presidents. These have included — to name just two examples — his letter-writing campaign in 1990 to members of the United Nations Security Council, in an effort to thwart the Bush I coalition that fought the first Gulf War against Saddam Hussein; and his 1994 trip to North Korea, where he proposed to the dying tyrant Kim Il Sung a deeply flawed nuclear-freeze deal that may well have helped Kim’s son consolidate power and develop ICBMs and atomic bombs."
"But having parlayed his former public office into global influence, he owes the public at least this much: Tell us, clearly and directly, enough about your supporters and their money that we can, with full information, decide for ourselves what is going on."

Problems and solutions in public education
For the most part, they waste time, money, resources, and generally do not educate students very well, unless you count indoctrination into Libthink as a positive item.
This article examines some of the myths that people like to cherish, and use as an excuse to keep the status quo functioning.
Summation:
"That work will be especially difficult because powerful interest groups with reasons to protect and extend the prevailing mythology will oppose any rethinking. But with time, and diligent effort by truth-tellers, reality and reason have triumphed over mythology in many other fields. There is no reason they can't prevail in schoolhouses as well."
Do any of these myths sound familiar to followers of our Guilford County Schools System?
Further debunking of the embryonic stem cell research gang's talking points
Noteworthy excerpt:
- Therapeutic cloning is a failure
- Cloning is illegal throughout Europe (even in France and at U.N.)
- Despite what you may hear, embryoes aren't thrown out by the thousands. Often they are saved for later or adopted by families.
- Adult stem cells and cord-blood cells have proved to be successful, and hae great potential.
- Embryonic stem cell research has yielded no real results.

Meanwhile, as we sleep.....
Noteworthy:"
“Any tax increase on top of this rising burden would put America well on the way to European-level taxes, causing European-style economic stagnation, slow income growth, and unemployment. Even France has begun to recognize how damaging such levels are, and French President Jacques Chirac has proposed to cut France’s corporate income tax rate from 33 percent to 20 percent. Congress must ensure that the U.S. does not take even one step down the road to higher taxes and a slower economy. Instead, it should face up to the challenge of entitlement spending."
Injustice?
Excerpt:
"This case is really about a political fight over the Iraq War. In talking to reporters, Mr. Libby was doing his job and attempting to defend Administration policy against political attacks. He had no evident reason to lie to the grand jury. Once Mr. Armitage had fessed up as the leaker in October 2003, a wiser prosecutor than Mr. Fitzgerald would have realized he had entered the realm of politics and gone home."
Fitzgerald is the Mike Nifong of partisan national politics.
Joe Lieberman makes sense
Quoting Lieberman:
"Iraq is the central part of a larger and ultimately longer-term conflict in the Middle East between moderates and extremists, between democrats and dictators, between Iran- and Iraq-sponsored terrorism and the rest of the Middle East. . . . Are we going to surrender to them, surrender that country to them, and encourage people like them to be in authority and power all over the Middle East and in a better position to strike us again?"
"If you still think, not only that the original purpose of going in was right, but that how it ends will have a significant effect on American security for a generation or more to come, then you don't back away."
"The people in Congress, and the public, were quite right in saying the president's got to come up with a different approach. And he did. It's better than any other plan I've seen because it holds the hope of success. Most of the other plans are effectively just giving up and walking away."
"If we leave the place collapses. And it's more than civil war, it's ethnic cleansing. The Iranians come in and dominate a good chunk of the country. Al Qaeda takes over a good part and uses it as a base. The Kurds [can sustain themselves] but it gets very ominous. . . . And then the same group of people who attacked us on 9/11, they achieve a victory, and they will use that victory to strike at us again."
The President gets it. Lieberman gets it.
Unfortunately, many of his fellow libthinkers/Democratics, and more than a few conservatives/Republicans don't.
We will NOT let those who DO NOT get it put this nation into further peril.

Democratics set to attack First Amendment rights
"Democrats in the Senate and the House are preparing a full-frontal assault on the First Amendment rights of conservative groups in parallel legislative moves. The Senate ethics bill, passed Thursday night, contains a provision that will hold grassroots groups that attempt to “influence the general public” to the same rules as Washington lobbyists. This means that basically any group that suggests you write your congressman about an issue, from the humble editorial shop of The Patriot to the pastor of your local church, needs to file financial reports or face a $200,000 fine. In addition, any such group aside from liberal-loving unions that spends or collects more than $25,000 in three months would also be required to file.
The debate will continue, though, while House Democrats move to reinstall the 'Fairness Doctrine' in an effort to silence conservative talk radio. The doctrine, which was allowed to die a quiet death during the Reagan administration, for years forced television and radio stations to give equal time to conservative and liberal opinion. Though it was never actually made law, now Democrats want to enforce the Fairness Doctrine in the proposed Media Ownership Reform Act. Under the guise of giving people a choice in the political views that they absorb in the media, Democrats are actually looking to force conservative talk radio stations to cede time to lousy liberal programming like Air America (which recently declared bankruptcy for lack of listeners). So much for the marketplace of ideas. The only programming choice liberals want to give the public is left and further left."

Weather Channel Babe pimps for "Global Warming" PC
A response to one of her blog entries says it all:
"This is a bad idea. I am now retired but was a member of the AMS for many years. AMS could no more speak for all meteorologists than could the AMA speak for all doctors. This is another barely disguised attempt to silence the skeptics. It fits nicely with the Weather Channel's practice of presenting only one side of the issue. If you are a good scientist you will not only welcome questions about your conclusions you will insist upon them."
Next they will propose "Global Warming Deniers" should face criminal penalties, similar to those faced by Holocaust Deniers in Europe.
Where will all this True Believer nonsense end?

The Duke "rape" case and the Valerie Plame "leak" scandal
It's amazing how the knee-jerk reaction in some Libthink quarters was similar in both cases.
To this day, there are STILL some who believe the original stories in each case.
The New New Bigotry
Hugh Hewitt has details.
Excerpts:
"Thus does the left casually open the door to the baldest sort of bigotry, a first cousin of the anti-Catholicism thought buried in 1960, or the anti-Semitism that continues to plague Europe and of course the Middle East. The not-so-deft substitution of 'religious heritage' for 'religion' is supposed, I guess, to protect Jews willing to abandon the outward display of their faith, but for anyone believing in the miraculous of any sort, well, those days of the great tolerance in American politics are over."
"Weisberg’s attack on Romney is exactly the sort of attack on other Christians and believers in the miraculous that the secular left would love to make routine."
But we knew that already, didn't we?

Meanwhile, back at The Swamp
Excerpt:
"This is happening because of the policies and rhetoric of George W. Bush. How many heads are banging onto desks in Foggy Bottom tonight because of this? It's pretty frightening, actually, what with our fleet sitting in the Persian Gulf."
Proof positive once again of the moral vacuity of the Nutroots.
And once again, we are not surprised.
Remember "The Brady Bunch"?
Steyn pens new lyrics for the music of the old theme song:
''Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was raising 30 grandkids on her own
All of them had hair of black like their gran'ma
And swaddling cloths hand-sewn.''
''Here's the story of a man named Hastert
Who was never photographed with any kids
'Cept in stories on Mark Foley's pages
And so he hit the skids . . . ''
As usual, Steyn nails it.....
Nifong will be replaced...finally!
Excerpt:
"I strongly suspect that once Nifong is off the case and a special prosecutor is appointed, all the charges will be dropped. Nifong's 'feelings' are the only reason this case is still pending."

Let's take a poll.
More on embryonic stem cell hucksters and their agenda
Noteworthy:
"You’d think it would be good news when scientists make a stem-cell breakthrough to which nobody objects. But for some people, it’s bad news that has to be spun away."
"Alternative approaches can be dismissed whenever promising findings haven’t been reproduced; but findings favorable to embryonic stem-cell research are taken to the bank, whether or not they’re reproduced. The long-term potential for embryo-destructive research is emphasized; the failure of alternative approaches to produce immediate results is held against them. Data is cherry-picked to show that the absence of taxpayer funding for embryo-destructive research has hurt American competitiveness; contrary evidence is ignored."
This whole nonsense is transparent. The maniacal support for embryonic stem cell research, to the exclusion of all other stem cell research, is nothing more than a back door defense of an absolute and unfettered abortion on demand agenda.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Uh oh! Trouble in Hilleryland!
However, all you Edwardsocratics and Obamacratics shouldn't get your hopes too pumped up:
"That demonstrates the power of the activist base in the Democratic Party to directly influence national politics. After all, Hillary has Bill Clinton, easily the most talented politician in the party, supporting her bid for another Clinton term in office, and Bill still enjoys tremendous popularity in the party."
Translation:
Pay attention. The Deomcrat hardball game is about to start.
I still think the Democratics are going to implode again, just like they did in 04.
Steve Jobs involved in securities fraud?
And just one more example of the mindset that caused why Bubba to bail out of his publicly traded corporate employee role after 20 years.
Despite Enron, et al, and despite the clamor over "outrageous" CEO compensation, they can't pay people enough to go through the regulatory nonsense of 21st century corporate America.
SOX compliance issues alone is enough to keep you awake at night.

President Bush to al-Maliki: "Play ball, or else"?
Noteworthy:
"My guess is that President Bush made it very clear to al-Maliki that the price of staying in bed with Moqtada al-Sadr would be a high one — if the Iraqi government dissolves, al-Maliki has a good chance of having his head end up on an al-Qaeda pike."
"The idea that Iraq is beyond saving doesn’t fly with me — if Iraq were in a civil war, the death toll would be catastrophic. Only a minority of the Iraqi population is engaged in the fighting or want there to be a fight — a few thousand heavily-armed thugs can destroy enough on their own. If Iraq were unsalvageable, the situation would be even worse than it is now."
Exactly.
The Democratics' Doubletalk
Excerpts:
"So the Democrats want the political mileage of opposing the troop increase rhetorically. What they don't want is to take responsibility for their own policy choice."
As usual, the Democratics want to have it both ways.
It won't play.
This nonsense needs to END NOW!
The latest in the follies of Mike The Nifong.
I think it's clear who the real victims are in this case.
The bureaucratic war on the Bush administration
Excerpts from the first link:
"There is a stunning lack of balance in the way all these cases are approached," Mr. diGenova said."
"A friend writes to point out this quote of the former DIA Middle East head who opposes Bush’s policy:
"The fact that the [Central Intelligence] agency was leaking isn’t denied by some. "Of course they were leaking," says Pat Lang. "They told me about it at the time. They thought it was funny. They’d say things like, 'This last thing that came out, surely people will pay attention to that. They won’t re-elect this man.'
This is a scandal hiding in plain sight, dying on the vine because it fails to fit any accepted narrative in which the MSM is a principal."
From the second:
"The bureaucracy -- the CIA, the State Department, the Justice Department and others -- has waged an unrelenting war on Bush administration foreign policy specifically and on the Bush administration generally. They have waged this war in blatant disregard to their own legal obligations and to the rule of law. At every step of the way, they have waged this war in partnership with the New York Times and the Washington Post. The lack of interest in Gerstein's story among the mainsteam media is, like the unnamed dog that didn't bark in the classic Sherlock Holmes story 'Silver Blaze,' a clue to the identity of the wrongdoers."

False claims continue to abound from embryonic stem cell research supporters
Highlights:
"Again and again, advocates for relaxing the ethical standards on funding make assertions and arguments with no basis in fact. Again and again they refuse to acknowledge the increasing evidence that genuine alternatives to embryo-destructive research may be possible."
"But the leaders of the effort to overturn the president’s policy have opted to ignore the facts and turn down a potential solution. They would prefer a political rallying point over a scientific way forward. Let us hope the Congress as a whole does not make the same choice."
It's pretty obvious who is providing the muscle necessary to propagate this campaign of intellectual dishonesty.

Quote of the Day
-- Thomas Sowell
Monday, January 08, 2007
Email of the Day
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers.
They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel.
The wheel was invented to get man to the beer.
These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Conservatives
2. Liberals
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture.
Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can had been invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer.
This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing.
This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as "girliemen ".
Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservative's provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant.
Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water.
They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food is standard liberal fare.
Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men.
Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals.
Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women.
Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, grunts, and generally anyone who works productively.
Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production.
Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off...
The Democratics' tactics in Congress
Noteworthy:
"After spending an entire year on the campaign trail claiming she will not raise taxes, the first vote Nancy Pelosi brings to the floor for a vote as speaker will open the door to billions and billions of dollars of tax increases over the next two years,"
Imagine that!

Real Reform under the Democrat Congress?
Bob Novak has details.
Some choice excerpts:
" In fact, Democrats will not go anywhere near real lobbying reform, which would have to include bans on lobbying firms' hiring spouses of congressmen and senators -- a common practice that legally lets special interests put millions of dollars into members' bank accounts when their interests are pending before Congress."
"Democrats' promise to implement all of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations has already fallen by the wayside as they admit basically what the Republicans already knew: They're not all practical. This sounded good enough that it did help during the campaign, though."
(Regarding minimum wage legislation)"This is a no-brainer for Democrats in more than one way. It is a populist provision that makes people feel good, even if it has little or no beneficial effect."
They're ALL no brainers for the Dems.....that's their standard operational procedure.
Victor Davis Hanson has some questions
Noteworthy:
"We have gone from Hezbollah and Dr. Zawahiri referencing Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky to excurses on impeachment from deep thinkers like Bill Maher and Keith Olbermann to Halliburton plots to 'no blood for oil' to 'the world's greatest terrorist' to novels and movies dreaming of assassinating the President to George Soros's Nazi allusions and now to the ultimate trivialization of the anti-war crowd-that the war is a monumental uncool drag, a has-been distraction from more important things like fighting with Rosie or bucking up a naughty beauty queen or staged 'you're fired' poses."
He forgets to reference the usual knee-jerk reaction that's sure to follow from readers who take extreme umbrage at his statements.
Gore's Last Stand

On the Campaign Trail: The Quintessential John Edwards
Or is it "The New Patriot"?
Hard to tell, isn't it?
Excerpts:
"'Don't do it for me,' Edwards pleaded. 'I'm dead serious. Don't do this for me. Do it for yourselves. Do it for your family. And do it for this country you love so much.'
It just so happens 'it' is all in the context of a campaign to get John Edwards elected President of the United States--coincidental, I'm sure."
"Ah, the bane of John Edwards supporters' lives: Existing as such highly evolved humanitarian buck-passers in a country full of retrograde disagreeables."
How true.
